Current Exhibits:
Pioneer Woman: "Here Comes the Bride" - Weddings in America.
The bride is the central figure in the almost universal ritual - the
wedding. While courtship and marriage have changed dramatically
throughout history, many elements of the wedding itself have remained
remarkably unaltered. This exhibit will be on view at the pioneer Woman
Museum from March 22nd to June 6th. It explores the history of wedding
in American from Colonial times to the present day. Topics include the
wedding dress, ethnic wedding customs, courtship, the honeymoon, and
wedding gifts. Developed by the Rogers Historical Museum in Rogers,
Arkansas, this exhibit offers an intriguing look at the origins of our

Ponca City Art Center: Rob Smith of Cushing will display his art
in the main galleries of the Art Center for the month of April. Rob is
the director of the Lachenmeyer Art Center in Cushing and well known for
creating prints in the screen print making process and is the creator of
the ever loved "Mr. Potato Head". Local artist Ruth
Loucks will also have her paintings on display in the music room. Art Center hours
are Wednesday through
Sunday, 1-5 p.m.

29 - June 1 - Ponca Playhouse Presents: "Driving Miss Daisy" A
drama by Alfred Uhrey, Directed by Nick Sweet. Daisy Wertham is a rich
72 year old Jewish widow in the South. When her son, Boolie, hires a
chauffeur for her, an unusual relationship develops between Daisy and
Hoke, a good natured black man. Over the course of 25 years, Daisy and
Hoke slowly become more dependent on one another as they realize they
have more in common than their era and society would ever let them

Garden Society is sponsoring a pond tour 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. the public is
invited to view the 16 area ponds listed below.
Maps detailing the sites are available at the Ponca City Chamber of
Commerce/Tourism office.
A one-time donation of $1. per adult will be accepted at any tour water
garden. Visitors are asked to stay on designated walkways and not climb
on rocks or landscaping. For safety reasons, parents are asked to
accompany children.

Tour" of the festively decorated historic Marland's Grand Home at 1000
East Grand Avenue. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $5.00 per
person. In addition to a guided tour of the gaily appointed home and
it's museums, refreshments will be served throughout the day. Tour

TBA - The Living Christmas Tree, 7:00 p.m. Nightly at the First
Baptist Church - featuring the Oklahoma Balladeer - Les Gilliam.
A tree shaped structure over 30 feet tall that holds up to 75 singers,
blending into 10 tiers of greenery, decorations and hundreds of
Christmas lights and special computer-controlled lighting effects. Some
150 performers will sing on the tree and in front of the tree, including
children, youth and adult musicians. Popular and traditional Christmas
songs such as "White Christmas", "Jingle Bell Rock", "I'll Be Home For
Christmas", "O Holy Night", to name just a few.
Les Gilliam will be
a featured artist and will perform Gene Autry's famous Christmas
songs, "Here Comes Santa Claus" and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and
others. This is Gene Autry's 100th birthday as well as Oklahoma's
birthday, so we'll tie the two celebration's together along with (of
course) the songs of the Christmas Season.

a.m. A free native American luncheon including corn soup, stir fry, fry
bread and grape dumplings will be served at the Kaw Nation Community
Center just west of Washunga Bay. Transportation will be provided from
